This lame (pronounced ‘Lahm’ which is a French word that means ‘blade’) is as a sourdough scorer - it slices the dough before being placed into a hot oven. Scoring dough helps the bread expand in the oven without the skin splitting randomly. You can even get creative with different scoring patterns in your sourdough bread!
The lame comes with 5 blades. It also has a leather cover to ensure safety when you are not using it/storing it. The wooden handle is comfortable to hold and will ensure a great score on your loaf of sourdough bread!

Before I had this lame I tried using a sharp knife & a break knife...both were hard to get a good cut with. Since having my lame, making the cut has been so easy! Can't believe I held off getting one for so long!

So please with my purchase of bread lame...is always lovely to receive an item that matches description and feels like quality in your hands.
I purchased the large bread tin and have been baking several times a week. Each time the bread comes out perfectly shaped and evenly baked. Its so effortless now to get really great sandwich bread that actually fits in the lunch box. I've even gone back and purchased the crumpet rings, lame and danish whisk. The delivery comes quick and all items arrive as ordered.
High recommend ordering.
So much better than a standard razor blade! Only dropped a star because it's so sharp, it's already sliced through the little cover that came with it. Not a biggie, and something I can create a substitute for.
